About this Blog

We're looking out for the lovers of good food by not only offering our sincere opinions but also by sometimes comparing various restaurants from the same chain and offering other practical information.

The list of establishments we have visited grows regularly. You can see the entire list by using one of the search tools offered at the top of this column.

Da Lillo

Da Lillo
Some restaurants take you by surprise and leave you with the desire to go back as soon as possible. This is what happened with Da Lillo, on Jarry street. The decor is simple and relaxed, we can see the cooks prepare our meals on a "very open" grill.

Da Lillo
Offering a mix of Italian and Portuguese flavours, this little restaurant will certainly charm you thanks to the menu's delicious offerings. Though it seems very simple (various pasta, grilled meats and pizzas), everything we've tasted so far has been wonderful. It's as if the chefs had found a way of respecting the traditional flavours while offering dishes that grow beyond them in a very nice way.

Throughout our various visits there, we've tasted the following dishes: pasta alla gigi, "rosée" pasta, pasta alfredo with grilled chicken, octopus and various grilled meats (including the chicken and the mixed meats). And if you like some French fries on the side, you'll probably like these. Not only did all these meals impress us with their taste, but the portions are also generous. As far as the deserts are concerned, they're good but offer nothing exceptional.

You should note that if you feel like going there on a Friday or a Saturday night, you'll have to make some reservations ahead of time. This restaurant fills up very quickly and its lively atmosphere makes people want to stay longer.

A few months ago, I would have said that this is one of Montreal's best kept secrets. Today, seeing how little time it takes for this place fill up, it's impossible to think we're the only ones that have heard of Da Lillo.
